Jawahar Bal Bhavan Mandi

 

In the mid-sixties, a scheme for the establishment of Jawahar Bal Bhavans was initiated and many Bal Bhavans were started in different states of India as Jawahar Bal Bhavans.

TheJawahar Bal Bhavan at Mandi was an extension of this scheme that was initially funded by the Nehru Memorial Fund. The rural Bal Bhavan Mandi was set up in 1972 and started functioning from the chaupal of Mandi village under the directive of then Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi Smt.Gandhi inaugurated the centre in its present location in the year 1973 , where the villagers of Mandi donated 4.75 acres of panchayat land to set it up and it was christened the Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Mandi. The main objective was to cater to the rural children of the Mandi, Mehrauli, Jaunpur, Gadaipur, Sultanpur, Manglapuri, Gwalpahari, Bandhwari, Asola, Aya Nagar, Ghitorni, Chattarpur, Maidan Garhi, rajpur, Satbari, Chandanhola, Fatehpur Beri, Dera, Bhatti Mines and Neb Sarai - the villages in and around Mandi.

Member children in large numbers throng to this centre every day to pursue wide ranging activities i.e.

In addition to member children , children from neighbouring member Government and Public schools also take part in activities and programmes of Jawahar Bal Bhavan Mandi.

Throughout the year Jawahar Bal Bhavan Mandi organzises many creative and innovative programmes to the ensure creative enhancement and holistic development of children. Most important days of National and International significance are observed at Jawahar Bal Bhavan Mandi. Independence Day is celebrated every year with great fanfare so that patriotism is nurtured among children . To promote amity and brotherhood by an understanding of each other’s culture and tradition , all major festivals ( Holi, Eid, Guruparv, Diwali and Christmas ) are celebrated at Jawahar Bal Bhavan Mandi.

The 3rd of February , the foundation Day of Jawahar Bal Bhavan Mandi is celebrated every year as Mandi Divas with great festivity. The other major programmes are the Summer Fiesta in May -June; Environment Day Programme in June wherein children and staff promote the cause of environmental conservations through rally, posters and performances and the Creativity Fair in November.

Jawahar Bal Bhavan Mandi has also been organizing English learning through Innovative App ;painting competitions ;dental check up and health check up camps in association with various collaborative partners. Alumni and Bal Shree Awardess have also been a part of JBB Mandi activities from time to time.
